Overview

HTP wants to help young people make a difference on the Mississippi Gulf Coast by getting involved with a World Class Trail Project and other interesting projects! We are looking for motivated young leaders, ages 16 to 24, to join other students from around the coast, to exchange ideas and get active in the great outdoors! The Mississippi Coastal Heritage Trail, a multi-purpose pathway, known as the “border to border” trail, runs through YOUR town and will connect neighborhoods, schools, businesses, and the entire community.

HTP would like to empower kids of all ages to create safe, coast-wide network of diverse trails that connect neighborhoods to businesses, schools, green spaces, and blue spaces where everyone can enjoy scenic, historic, educational and natural areas.

Since the beginning, young folks and their great ideas have been an important aspect of HTP and recently, a grass roots effort has been underway to create the Youth Trails Partnership (YTP). YTP strives to find young leaders, ages 16 to 24, in local communities to help lead the way in getting students “re-connected to the outdoors”.

Working with the National Park Service – Rivers, Trails & Conservation Assistance Program and a collaboration of partners, HTP is working with youth leaders to establish the nationally recognized Mississippi Coastal Heritage Trail, a 100+ mile multi-use path, linking Louisiana to Alabama along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
